Minibuses are the only public transportation from Tbilisi to Akhaltsikhe. Their schedule is unstable, they leave as they fill up, but you don’t have to wait long, as the direction is quite popular.

Akhaltsikhe is a small town in the south of Georgia, which many centuries ago was formed around the fortress nowadays called Rabat. For a long time Akhaltsikhe did not attract attention, only after the restoration of the fortress it became a famous and popular tourist destination.
Akhaltsikhe is also considered a good stopover point for those who want to see the sights in the area, among which are: Vardzia and Vanis Kvabebi cave monastery complex, Khertvisi and Tmogvi fortresses, Borjomi Park and hot springs.
